About HAYA

What HAYA is, what it does, and why it exists.

What is HAYA

HAYA is a digital health platform built for the people of South Sudan. The name "HAYA" comes from the Arabic word meaning "life." The platform provides health guidance, connects users with health providers and facilities, delivers first aid instructions, shares vital signs education, and supports emergency response.

HAYA does not diagnose medical conditions and does not prescribe medication. It provides general health information and connects users with qualified health professionals and verified health facilities.

The platform is designed to be accessible to users with varying literacy levels and technical backgrounds. It supports voice input and voice output to assist users who may have difficulty reading or typing.

Vision

A South Sudan where every person, regardless of location, income, or literacy level, can access reliable health information, connect with qualified health providers, and make informed decisions about their health and the health of their families.

Mission

To provide a digital health platform that delivers general health guidance, connects individuals with health providers and facilities, supports emergency response, and promotes health awareness across South Sudan. HAYA operates as a bridge between the community and the health system.

Core Values

Accessibility

HAYA is designed for all users, including those with limited literacy, limited internet access, or physical and cognitive challenges. Voice input, voice output, and adjustable text sizes are built into the platform.

Honesty

HAYA provides factual health information. It does not exaggerate. It does not make claims it cannot support. It clearly states its limitations and directs users to qualified health professionals when appropriate.

Privacy

User health data is treated as confidential. HAYA does not sell user data. HAYA does not share personal health information with third parties without consent. All data handling follows responsible practices.

Service

HAYA exists to serve the health needs of the South Sudanese community. The platform is built to be useful, not to generate profit from vulnerable populations. Core services are provided without charge.

Inclusivity

HAYA is built for individuals, families, health workers, and health facilities. It serves urban and rural communities. Future versions will include additional local languages, including Arabic and Juba Arabic.

Responsibility

HAYA takes its role seriously. All health information is reviewed for accuracy. The platform clearly states its limitations and always directs users to qualified health professionals for medical decisions.
